When Owen was a little guy, we met up with Nate's best friend and best man from our wedding and his family for lunch while visiting family in Louisville. We're very close with Matt and his wife Bridget and were thrilled when they said they'd like to drive up to our house for a weekend. It was still a little chilly out, so we tried to plan a visit that would appeal to everyone.
When they got to our house with their two little ones, Abby and Austin, the adults took turns going for a run. Matt and Nate went first, and then Bridget and me. Man, does talking and running wear you out! I had to stop a couple of times. Note to self: less talking, more running. After our runs, we filled a little cooler up with some drinks and snacks and took off to our neighborhood playground. Not to brag, but it's one of the best neighborhood playgrounds around with a basketball court, volleyball court, little kids set and big kids set. There's something for everyone... even a bench for mom.
Owen had such a big time with Abby. She's a couple years older than him and he's about a year older than Austin. They played so well together!
After playing for a while, the temperature really began to drop so we decided to go to dinner at The Local. We love it! They have a great kids' menu and their adult food and beverages are the best around. Matt and Bridget really enjoyed it, too.
Owen and Austin took a bath together and enjoyed their milk before heading off to bed. Abby followed shortly thereafter. The next day, we went to the Monon Center for some indoor swimming and splashing. Everyone seemed to have a really good time but Owen. He started taking swimming lessons at Stony Creek Swim Center at 19 months, so we thought he'd really like it but no dice. He wanted to hold on to mama and dada the whole time.
We were sad to see Matt, Bridget and the kiddos leave after such a great visit. We can't wait to do it again soon!
